This is the latest in a series on the use of the race card for political gain:
Unless you spent the past 10 days high in the Himalayas worshipping the Aqua Buddha, you are aware that Juan Williams was fired from NPR, and subjected to howls of “racist” from the left-blogosphere and media, for expressing that he becomes uncomfortable when he sees people in “Muslim garb” on airplanes (he acknowledged at the same time that such fears were based on unfair stereotypes).
One high-traffic left-wing blog even referred to Williams as Fox News’ “lawn jockey.” (Which was not the first time that slur was used by the left against Williams.)
Yet, there have not been similar howls regarding left-wing superstar Bill Maher, who recently expressed concern about the spread of Islam in the West, as reported by Mediaite:
Those who accuse the once libertarian Bill Maher of becoming too much of a liberal apologist might want to clean their ears. Maher made a Juan Williams-esque confession on his program when he apprehensively noted that Mohammed has just become the most popular baby name in Britain. “Am I a racist to feel alarmed by that?” Maher asked his panel. “Because I am. And it’s not because of the race, it’s because of the religion. I don’t have to apologize, do I, for not wanting the Western world to be taken over by Islam in 300 years?”
Maher will get a pass because he serves other purposes. Maher attacks Christians, Republicans, conservatives and Tea Partiers with even more vigor than he attacks Islam.
And of course, Maher is most famous of late for attempting to smite the dreaded O’Donnell of Delaware.
It seems that in the eyes of the left-blogosphere and media, “Islamophobia” is in the eye of the beholder, and that beholding is strictly partisan.

Says permitting vote would aggravate discrimination against homosexuals
By Matthew Cullinan Hoffman, Latin America Correspondent
SAN JOSÉ, August 11, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Costa Rica’s Constitutional Court, the nation’s highest tribunal, has ruled that citizens cannot vote on the issue of homosexual “civil unions” because “people who have relations with the same sex are a disadvantaged group that is the object of discrimination.”
Rejecting the arguments of pro-family groups and the nation’s Supreme Electoral Tribunal, the court voted 5-2 to prohibit such a vote, claiming that it would “deepen and aggravate discrimination” against homosexuals.
The Court’s decision cancels a referendum on the matter previously scheduled for December, for which over 150,000 signatures were gathered in recent months. The referendum was called in response to proposed legislation to create “civil unions” for homosexual couples, which would give them the same rights normally reserved for married couples.
The bill, which is known as Legal Project 16390 and not yet been subject to a final vote, has been condemned by the Costa Rican Catholic bishops’ conference, whose flock includes the vast majority of Costa Ricans.
Denouncing the legislation in September of last year, the Costa Rican bishops wrote that “we are facing a bill that intends in practice to equalize” homosexual unions, which, “is manifestly against articles 51 and 52 of the Constitution, in which matrimony is the essential base of the family, and has the right to the special protection of the government. The equalization of unions of people of the same sex with matrimony is therefore unconstitutional.”

Prominent black activist Mary Frances Berry admitted today that accusing the tea party activists of being racists is an effective tool for the democrats and far left organizations.
Mary Frances Berry admitted this at the Politico:
Professor of American Social Thought and History, U. Penn. :
Tainting the tea party movement with the charge of racism is proving to be an effective strategy for Democrats. There is no evidence that tea party adherents are any more racist than other Republicans, and indeed many other Americans. But getting them to spend their time purging their ranks and having candidates distance themselves should help Democrats win in November. Having one’s opponent rebut charges of racism is far better than discussing joblessness.
And, there you have it. Democrats are flinging the r-word as a political maneuver. We all knew it. Now they admit it.
